Solo. My adventure in the Sahara Desert

In the heart of the Sahara Desert, the Marathon Des Sables isn’t just a race it’s a test of willpower, endurance, and the human spirit. After years of intense preparation and training, followed by a forced break due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the author is finally at the starting line, ready to face one of the toughest challenges on earth. But as he confronts the scorching sun and endless dunes, his physical doubts clash with the exhilaration of the adventure ahead.
What starts as a personal journey of redemption soon turns into an unforgettable tragedy. The death of Pierre, a fellow runner succumbing to the harsh conditions, forces the author to make an impossible decision: push forward, ignoring the loss, or stop to honor the victim and respect his family’s grief.
This gripping narrative challenges not only the limits of human endurance but also the core values of humanity. In a race where survival trumps victory, the book explores the profound emotional and ethical dilemmas faced by each runner. It’s an unflinching look at what it truly means to compete, and to live, with integrity.
